The gaze
« The painting I make expresses the concept of our civilisation, the games of the human mind. »Leo Novoro
I paint scenes in which power stages itself: a sovereign, a playing card, a logo, a crown. These are not caricatures — they are portraits of our civilisation, painted with the seriousness usually reserved for official commissions.
Oil painting answers glass mosaic: thousands of tesserae cut and set one by one on wood, whose light brings the motif to life. Then resin, sealing colour inside a glassy depth.
Painter and mosaicist, studio in Fontainebleau. More than thirty-five years of practice, from political canvases to glass mosaics.
Three materials
Le verre, l’huile,
la résine
Each technique imposes its own time: mosaic is built tesserae by tesserae, painting is laid down in layers, resin demands the precision of a single gesture.
Glass mosaic
Tesserae cut and set by hand, one by one, on wood. Light passes through the glass and turns the panel into a living object.
