Frequently asked
questions

Commissions, prices, shipping, authenticity: the questions most often asked at the studio.

Who is Leo Novoro?

Leo Novoro is a painter and mosaic artist based in Fontainebleau, near Paris. He has painted in oil on canvas for more than thirty-five years, and also makes glass mosaics on wood, epoxy resin works and commissioned portraits. His catalogue lists 87 referenced works, from 1996 to 2021.

Which techniques does he use?

Four main techniques: oil on canvas, glass mosaic on wood (tesserae cut and set by hand), epoxy resin over oil and wood, and mural painting. Commissioned portraits are painted in oil on canvas.

How much does a commissioned portrait cost?

From €1,500 for an art portrait in oil on canvas. The final price depends on format and complexity and is agreed with the artist before execution.

How do I commission a portrait?

Write to the studio at [email protected] with the desired style (classical or contemporary), the format and how the painting will be used. You will receive the terms, then the stages of work.

Are the works unique?

Yes. Paintings, mosaics and resins are one-off pieces, with no print or reproduction. Commissioned portraits are also original signed works.

Can I buy a work online?

Acquisition is handled directly with the studio. Available works and their prices are listed on the “Acquire” page; for other works, write to the studio to check availability.

How are works delivered?

By express carrier with insurance, in France and worldwide. Works are packed in rigid packaging suited to their format.

Where can I see the works?

At the studio in Fontainebleau, by appointment. The Kings of France collection is shown there. Part of the catalogue can be seen online, work by work.

What is the book “ARTISTE”?

An artist’s book, sold at €3 by the studio, in which Leo Novoro sets out his relationship to painting: the civilisation of the game, subpersonalities, volume and light. The cover reproduces the canvas Subpersonalities (2005).

Can a work be authenticated or restored?

For any question about an existing work — provenance, condition, documentation — write to the studio with photographs of the painting, the back and the signature.
